De Montford walked calmly behind the ranks of troops as they lined up for the next volley. His sword drawn, he stopped and turned at the centre of the line, waiting for the rogue army to try and charge again. They had already shown how pitiful their archery was, in comparison to the royal guard's highly trained marksmen.
The rogues were of many different species, who had banded under the same banner, but it didn't matter to Arthur. They had rebelled against central government, and they had fortified their position here, in the south of the grasslands. Arthur was here to make sure that it became... unfortified.
"Fire!" He called out to the archers and a horn was blown by a banner carrier beside him and hundreds of fire-tipped arrows scorched their lines across the sky. The enemy army raised their shields in response, but even so, many fell. Their answering shots were much less effective against them however, and the rogue infantry charged forward.
"Ground the infantry, make sure they don't make it past this line. Take the cavalry around the sides and engage them from the flanks," he spoke to two of his captains who saluted quickly and marched and rode away respectively.
He took up a position with the infantry and readied his shield... it had been too long...

Aric found himself behind the line of soldiers. He walked up behind his High Lord and put his hand on de Montford's shoulder. "How are the troops" he asked as he drew his sword, ready to join the battle. Aric raised his shield to his torso. He was wearing his silver armor with gold designs on the front. His sheath was on his left hip. For this battle he did not have his bow. It was too small of a battle for him to waste his arrows on this pitiful rebel army. Aric raised his sword above his head in confidence "Fight for your King" He yelled out loud for his troops to hear.

"The troops, my liege..." he smiled as the rebels approached, sprinting flat out, yelling hoarsely, wearing themselves down before they'd even started fighting. "...are ready to serve the monarch, and ready to spill the blood of those who would not!" He yelled the last bit out loud, the battle lust slowly creeping up on him.
He turned back to look Aric in the eyes in the brief seconds they had before they would have to fight and clasped him on the shoulder as well, "Good luck, my friend. Fight strong."

Aric waited for the rogues to attcack him. As one showed up, Aric took a slash at the rogue's chest but the enemy dodged his attack. The rogue attacked Aric but Aric parried the man's attack and stabbed the man's stomach, he then moved to the next enemy. Aric took out three more enemies around him and prepared himself for the next move. He moved up toward the front of the line and watched as his men killed the rebels. Aric heard a footstep behind him and he turned around with his sheild raised and thrusted his sword into the man in front of him, killing the enemy instantly.

Arthur watched eagerly as the rebel army slammed against the shields of the royal guards. The two armies collided with such force that it could be felt through de Montford's feet, even through his boots. Swords started slashing all around him and spears were being thrust forward past his head, skewering the men running at him. Two rebels ran at him and the King, and Arthur ducked their attacks and slashed hard across them both, spilling their entrails onto the ground.
he jumped forward and took an axe shaft in his shield coming down from above. He pushed the axe away from him and stabbed the man in the chest, letting him fall the ground, disentangling himself from the corpse. Another soldier jumped at him and the two swords rang against each other like music. Arthur parried blow after blow and even backslashed an axemanacross the face had who tried to attack him with is back turned. Eventually he shoulder-tackled the man to the ground with his shield and lunged through a gap in his breastplate.
De Montford turned to find Aric, "We'll have this battle easily my liege! Soon they will break!"

A roar reverberated across the battlefield as Shenna swooped in. Her giant wings beat at the air, and she flew low over the human army. She was fighting with the rebels, and though they were humans and such, they wanted their king overthrown as much as she did, so she fought beside them. Most of the arrows had been fired, so she chose this time to come in. She knew that they probably had some left, but her scales would protect her from the bulk of them, and the few that penetrated would most likely not slow her down. Now the odds were even. She dove low above the troops, and let loose a roar, which was accompanied by a jet of flame. She could hear a men's screams as her flames ate at them. Her wingbeats knocked a few men to the ground, making a clearing for her to land on. She roared again, and lashed her tail out, piercing the armor of one man, and sending another down with a dented and blood-leaked helmet. She would fight them off, and kill their king. OOC: Now you can have some excitement!

ooc: Thank you... I was hoping an enemy would pop in ;D
Arthur spun on his heel, trapping a man's spear into the ground with his shield, and cleaved through his helmet with his sword with a satisfying crunch. The body fell to the ground, his eyes now staring without seeing.
The High Lord turned around and eyed the battle around him. The rebel army had thinned in his area, and he found that he was now standing alone in a ring of dead warriors. Arthur smiled, murmuring to himself,"Excellent. Good to see I've still got it."
He was about to call out to Aric when he heard a deafening roar above the clouds and he spun, only for his eyes to meet a mottled beast dropping out of the sky, with huge wings beating through the air and the rageful eyes that could only belong to a demon of the sky. To a dragon.
It swooped down towards him and Arthur leapt aside, straight into an enemy soldier to get out of the way of a jet of flame that seared across the frontlines, swallowing brave men in the swathes. He withdrew his sword and jumped up, eager to get back to Aric. "My lord! They have a dragon! We have to regroup the archers and spearmen and get them to focus all their fire on it!" For the briefest of seconds now, Arthur doubted their victory, but only for a second. His pride in the men was too strong for that... and besides, dragons had been killed in the past. Maybe Arthur would get lucky.
He half-ran, half-leapt over bodies, slashing at foes in his way until he reached the King. A deep rumble shuddered through his legs as he saw the dragon ground itself not far away. He swung his shield towards it in front of Aric, ready to die for his duty, his mind working a million miles a minute trying to think of what to do...

Shenna swung her head around, smashing her ram horns into a man who was trying to stab her foreleg. She heard a crunch as her horn smashed into the man's head, and he fell limp to the ground. There was a spearman rushing toward her, and he threw his weapon, aiming for her neck. Shenna's eyes narrowed to slits, and in a powerful leap, she launched herself into the blue sky, out of range of the spears. She gulped in a great breath of air, and blew out another jet of flame, the white hot flame becoming red and orange as it hit the prarie. She landed in the middle of the flames, and because it was her dragonfire, it did not scorch her. If anyother dragon blew fire, it would penetrate her thick hide, but not fire from her own jaws. She beat her wings on the ground, sending the fire strait foreward and keeping it under her control. It would not get any bigger, because of the gale force winds generated by her wings, but she directed it strait into a charging group of the King's infantry. The flames swallowed them up. She had to save her fire so if need be she could fly away, so she jerked her head foreward and ripped up a chunk of burning grass, keeping the flame inside her collosal maw.

Arthur ran forward towards the massive dragon with his shield in front of him and his sword held back a little. De Montford knelt down near one of the fallen royal guards and, after stabbing his sword into the ground, pulled his spear out of the dead man's hands. Arthur brought it back and threw it with all his strength at the dragon, aimed towards its belly.
Without even seeing if the dragon would dodge it or not, knowing that only one spear would hardly be enough to bring down a beast like this, Arthur pulled his longsword back out of the ground and ran towards the beast. "For the kingdom and dawn of man!"
There was a ring of fire around the dragon, and just as it blew it at some of the infantry, Arthur jumped through it in the small flicker. Even being in contact with it for a second would burn his flesh off.
He lunged towards the dragon's hind leg, hoping against all hopes that the favour of the gods was with him today...

Shenna screeched as the spear hit her belly, but it was not because it had really hurt, it was more the surprise of actually being hit. She turned her head to see who threw it just in time to see a man charge at her flank. She wipped around as the sword impacted, but she took away the bulk of the blow as she faced the human. But she was not as fast as she hadhoped to be. Three of her scales had been caught but the sword, and one had been ripped off. The other two were just slightly askew. She tossed her head in rage at her wound, and ducked her head so her tough, biny skull was facing the man. She leapt foreward, hoping to ram him.

Arthur felt a satisfying resistance to his sword and saw the scales bounce off the dragon's tough skin, revealing the inner layers of her skin, not quite as tough, but it still took a direct strike with a strong arm to pierce it. And it was only its leg. Although Arthur would have to wait for that as he saw the dragon, spin around, and he had to duck to dodge its tail which spun around over his head.
He found himself looking straight into the eyes of the huge beast and knew he had to act now. It charged forward and the High Lord leapt to the side, trying to avoid it, but it had been too large, and one of the beast's horns clipped his left arm. It scraped along his plate armour and completely flung his shield away, sending it through the dragon fire where it clammered to the ground somewhere far away. His shoulder plate fell to the ground in a shattered mess beside him.
Arthur rolled on the dirt, trying to get underneath the charging beast and as one of her hind legs crashed into the ground beside his head he pushed his sword upwards from underneath her, hardly believing he would be lucky enough to get through its scales...

Shenna groaned, the man had managed to thrust the blade against the scales, sliding the blade between her tough plates and stabbing the soft flesh inside. The blade was still in, quelling the flow of her hot blood, but the pain was incesent. If the blade came out, she would bleed, but the scales would help the wound to heal. She dipped her head down to see the man underneath her, and she let the fire that was stored in her mouth loose. It wasnt that much, and it had cooled slightly, so it would not kill him. He had his armor on, but she did not know if it resisted her fire or not.

Arthur's sword was lodged in the dragon's underbelly. He wrenched on it, trying to pull it free, but it just would not budge. The scales were holding it together far too well. He put an armoured boot on its belly and pulled as hard as he could, but fell back down as the sword spun in the dragon's skin and snapped in half, most of it coming out, but leaving about a quarter of the blade still irritrevably lodged inside the beast.
"Maybe I was lucky this day," Arthur said as drops of hot blood started to fall on his face, but then he looked down and saw the dragon's jaws wide open in front of him and a bright light starting at the back of its throat. "Then again maybe not..."
Arthur tried to roll away but there was no way to escape. The flames hit him square in the chest and the force of the explosion blasted him from underneath the dragon and across the dirt, ten feet away. The platemail was burning him, and he quickly tried to take off his breastplate. It was smoking and charred beyond repair and every second it was on him it seared horribly.
His unprotected left arm had taken a painful burning. It probably wouldn't be permanent, but it hurt far too much to use for now. The plate hit the ground and started sizzling in the dirt. Arthur felt around for a weapon, but his head was still ringing from the sound of the fire around him. He was lucky to be alive.
His fingers felt around a long lance shaft and he brandished it towards the dragon, trying to stand up before it lashed down at him. He was only half as armoured as before, with only one arm in proper use, the other limply wrapped around the lance. Thank god the fires hadn't hit his face, or he'd be blind as well.
Maybe Arthur was in a little over his head. Dragons had only ever been brought down by large hunting parties... never a single man... never...

A huge shadow whipped over the grass, appearing as one giant dragon. He looked bigger in the sky, Lakieth. But when he soared down at the sight of a man and a dragon, his size decreased and he didn't look as fierce. But this was what got humans or any opponent for that matter. They judged him before striking.
Lakieth had a strange feeling towards this man. Was the man fighting for random and fun? The feeling went away as he saw him try to strike not just to defend himself, to kill. Lakieth saw him being over-poered by this dragon he had never seen before. Being the King of Beasts, Lakieth attempted to meet and gather all creatures.
His feetlowered closer to the ground, but he lifted them up at the last second to soar over both of them. This was her fight. He decidd to watch it from above the land, his keen eyes staring them down. He was eager to learn the way she fights and hopefully be taught. To him, there was always room for improvment.
His head lowered, hanging below his neck. He gazed at the man, seeing what he would do. If for some reason he came back in the game and wounded her, he would join in. The anger would pump through his veins. No human would touch any beast, living or dead. But being able to control his emotions, Lakieth left that thought to fins its way to the back of his mind.
He soared around to circle them again, waiting to see what would happen...

Shenna groaned as half of the sword broke off, leaving the other half lodged painfully under her ribs. Everytime she breathed, it seemed to push itself deeper. Now that the wound had widened, her blood flowed freely, and the ground was soon slick and steaming. The man stood up before her, a lance in his hand. She felt a shadow pass over her, and she looked up, and saw another dragon above them. It did not concern itself in there fight she she looked down again at the human. She raised a paw and stepped foreward, lashing her talon toward him.
