Arthur saw a shadow coming across him and it soared across the grass like a demon. Oh god! Not a second one! He thought to himself as he sighted the smaller dragon fly overhead. For the briefest of seconds he thought it was going to land on them and he instinctively ducked as it flew only a few feet above them.
Arthur had been distrated by the second dragon and almost missed the first one advancing on him. He tried to hold the lance back in place but he wasn't fast enough and the powerful talon snapped into the weapon, shattering it like a toothpick. The curve of the claw hit him in the stomach and he was thrown back further towards the ring of fire. He could feel the heat of it on his back now as he fell to the ground, completely breathless, and now weaponless as well.
Arthur tried to stand but he couldn't, it was a struggle for him to breathe. And as he saw the dragon coming closer he knew that he was about to die...
...or maybe not. The archers he had called for earlier had finally arrived and a full regiment of them had positioned themselves outside the ring, watching the fight with awe. At the command of their Sergeant they had unleashed a volley onto the dragon, and the High Lord, through his slightly blurry vision, saw a hail of arrows fall towards the beast from the sky...

Lakieth had spotted the archers before they fired. He held his site dearly to him.. Without sight, he would feel lost. His other senses, especially hearing, weren't as keen. He'd much rather see than hear.
Lakieth swooped down, few arrows that had lost their momentum hit his scales, falling down with him. He felt the small sting of them, but it wasn't anything bad. He wasn't just going to let them hit him first try...
His claws outstretched, these humans had gone too far. They had entered his belief of leaving the other two to fight. He bowed down to the world. Allowing himself to freefall. His wings folded, careful not to catch arrows like darts and a board. Nearing closer to the ground, Lakieth unfurled his waings and shot onward. He tilted up a little more and swooped down upon the archers.

Aric watched the battle between the dragon and Arthur. He sheathed his sword and readied his bow. He pulled an arrow from his quiver and locked it onto his bow. He aimed at the dragon on the ground and fired, not knowing if he would hit it. He then put his bow back onto his back. He drew his sword once more and ran over to the fire ring. He jumped through, almost diving through it but landing on his feet. He ran over to Arthur and looked down to him "Are you ok?" He asked as he gave his shield to Arthur "Use this for now" He said then going up to the dragon, ready to attack or defend himself or Arthur at any given moment.

Shenna screeched as the arrow tore through her wing, leaving a small hole. There was another man fighting her. The other dragon was taking care of the archers, so she paid them no heed. She had two humans to worry about. She turned toward the new man and spun around, sweeping her pronged tail, hoping to hit them both. As she turned, she saw the other dragon more clearly. It was a male, about the same size as her, but she had never seen wings like his before, they were heavily veined and very graceful. He looked very regal, and she caught herself wondering who he was.

Lakieth's claws tore at the archers' heads. Blood spattered the fields as his claws sank into their flesh. Their screams were audible through out the fields. These humans had gone too far. He thought. Lakieth didn't enjoy any second of the red liquid clinging to his scales. The archer's without shields were unlucky, for his claws reached the tops of their heads as they tried to duck.
Lakieth's eyes sadenned as he watched them crumple to the ground. The only way to end a battle like this was to fight. No persuasion was ever desirable.
His wings lifted him back up like a butterfly. He took a sharp turn, dodging arrows and headed back down to take another swipe. He entered their range again, his luck fading. Gravity lowered him. As he tried to unfurl his wings again to dodge another arrow, it struck through. It was like a rock thrown through water. His eyes widened as the arrow passed through. He didn't feel pain there, for it was stretched skin. The tough material was fragile when it came to weapons. But it held the wind like nothing else.
Lakieth screeched at the hole. He lost control as the wind sped through the widening gap. He came crashing down upon the scattering archers. His giant body was huge compared to them, but he was small compared to other dragons.
Bones mat earth, arrows met scales. The archers were quick to recover. Lakieth shot up, taking in more arows. He moaned but charged through them like he had nothing to lose. but in truth, he did. He would lose his followers, his land, his beliefs if death fell upon him soon..

Arthur caught the shield clumsily in his hands, completely overwhelmed to see his friend and king coming to his aid. "Never better my liege," he said sarcastically, yet affectionately.
Arthur felt new strength in his limbs and he moved to get up, but just as he was about to the dragon's tail swept over the top of him, missing him by inches. "Aric! Jump!"
He called out to the king hoping he had already seen the dragon's attack. He rolled out of the way and stood up, clutching his shield to him to protect himself from the heat and arrows flitting across the ground from the archers. He scanned the ground for a weapon, and although the ground was littered with bodies, there weren't very many swords.
Arthur found one that was suitable, a rogue schimitar, and picked it up, rushing back towards the dragon and into the fight.
The rogue army was breaking now, but both forces had suffered heavily in casualties, and a spare spear regiment was all that could be afforded to attack the second male dragon...

Aric did not manage to jump to escape the lashing across his legs. He fell to the ground with a very loud thud, with the sound of armor clashing together. He hesitated for a moment before getting up. He knew it would be a little harder to stand, but he could handle it. He got to his feet and waited for the next move of the dragon. "Arthur stand back...We cannot take this beast alone...We would need an army of at least ten" He said looking at the dragon.

Arthur heard Aric's callings, and he stopped his charge towards the beast. Instead he stayed back, ready to dodge the massive creature if it attacked again.
He could hear the archers and spearmen attacking the dragon outside the fire ring, hopefully they could drive it off for now. "Where are the other Lord Guards!?" he called towards Aric. The most elite of the royal guards carried the title of Lord Guards, and there was currently twelve of them, including himself, who was the commander. "We could definately use them right now! My liege, if you've still got a horn, call for them!"

Shenna reared up, pushing of the ground with her deeply muscled back legs. She opened her wings and flew high into the air, soaring above the battlefield. She never lost sight of her rival, and at the peak of her climb, she flipped herself around and snapped her wings shut, aiming her freefall toward the men. The ground sped closer and closer, the green and splattered red of the field filling her slitted eyes. She knew that two dragons and a group of weakened soldiers could not defeat an entire army of superbly trained soldiers, but at least they could give them something to remember.
She had one more burst of flame left in her. Her flying would now be heavy, but she would still be able to get away. She was 20 feet from the ground now, and she blew her fire directly in front of her, a solid stream of flame, white hot. She opened her wings suddenly, pulling her four feet in front of her and saving her skull from the impact. It was tough, but nothing was tough enough to withstand that kind of a freefall unless the weight was distributed. Her heavy feet hit the middle of the flame with an enourmous thud, and the forse of the wind and the gravity that had pulled her down sent the flames shooting around her, in a ring of fire that was moving as fast as the wind she created could blow.
Fatigue was settling in on her. She could not withstand much more of this.

"Oh Lord..." Arthur muttered to himself as he saw the dragon peak in its flight. For a breif second there he had thought it was leaving, but alas, it was still fighting. The High Lord put the sword under his armpit and ran to the side a little, then dived down and threw some corpses up around him for slight protection... but that alone would not protect... not even close.
"My liege!" Arthur called back at him. "Get out of the ring before it hits! Run!" He knelt down behind the corpses and threw his dragon scale cloak around him, covering his entire body. He flipped the hood over and buried his face into his arms. This was the first time he would have tested his cloak in a battle... he hoped to god that it would work.
He felt the rumble in the ground and nearly lost his balance as he felt the wave of fire hit the cloak. It was pressed down onto his skin and the heat was slowly rising inside it. The sinews of the scaled were searing under his fingers, and his entire body broke out in a massive sweat. His veins came to the surface and he was breathing deeply, gasping for breath. He couldn't take much more of this...
...and then it was over.
The heat had stopped and he raised his head from his arm. The ground was scorched black and he was tingling all over from the heat. All around him the corpses had gruesomely been burnt to cinders, the juices from their bodies long past evaporated. But his cloak was still pure white, despite its throbbing heat.
Arthur stood up shakily, thanking the gods he had though of buying this cloak...

Shenna stood in front of the men, her breathing heay, and her snout black the soot from her fire. A few men had been caught in her flames and lie burnt on the ground, but the one man she wanted to kill was standing there; shaken but alive. She gave a roar of frustration and anger, and then she saw it. His cloak, made of white dragon scales. She narrowed her eyes with hate, glaring at him with such intence ferocity that he would most likely never forget. She opened her wings but did not fly off. She opened her toothy mouth, and in perfect english said to him, "It is because of a dragon that you live today, so it will be because of a dragon that you will die. Do not forget that, human" she practiclly spat the word out, "That is the way the world works. You can not rely on our skins forever."
She sprung off the ground and took flight, swinging her tail and knocking down several men as she flew away into the forest.

Lakieth had taken out few men, but some of their shields had upgraded, protecting them from his striking claws. The cloak caught his eye as he heard the other dragon speak of it. He snarled but another thought struck him. The beasts and dragons may have to join forces to overcome the shadows that stretch closer. He was torn between leaving the fight, battling more, or speaking to them. It was the craziest idea he had ever heard. But Lakieth had learned something from being the Lord. It was something he could have never taught. It was his followers that taught him wtithout even knowing it. He was Lord to protect, not always fight. He was their to guide, not live their lives for them. Lakieth stretched his wings, he was ready to talk. Were the humans really ruthless crearures? Or were they just simply trying to survive as well. lakieth might be missing the fact that they would kill a dragon to protect themselves. But were they protecting themselves so they can continue being loyal to their Lord? It was a tangled mess of thoughts, but Lakieth had made his way towards the man that caught his eye. Was this their leader? If not.. who was?
Claws dug into the soil, few plants still ablaze. He crushed the grass, putting out the fire as he landed. Warmth swarmed his legs, but it was no more than basking in the sun. Lakieth hid his claws in the dirt, trying to show he would not fighyt unless he did. His tail lowered, but it wasn't a sign of respect, it was simply preventing an arguement about trust from happening. His mouth opened, but his tongue was back. Theflap in his mouth was closed and showed no fire would spew as long as they talked. "What madness has brought you and your humans here?" Lakieth was wrong. This wasn't the King, but he didn't care. Lakieth thought that all these man thought alike. He just needed to know how they thought.

Arthur's cloak billowed around him and he turned to look at the dragon. "This dragon that I wear died years ago... what better purpose for it to serve." But his words were drowned out by the beating of its wings as it pulled away into the air. "You will never kill me!" He yelled after her silloheute on the sky.
Then his confidence wavered as the second dragon practically walked through the fire ring, snuffing it out like a candle. Arthur looked around, but his sword was burnt to cinders, along with every other weapon in the ring. There was no fighting this time...
What madness has brought you and your humans here?" it asked him. It was so strange to hear a man's voice coming from such a beast. They were ravenous in his eyes, barely worthy of their teeth.
"The madness that has caused these humans to turn against their own race. What would you do if an army of dragon's turned against your own. Desertion is a captial offence, and with it comes the capital punishment...," he paused a moment, "... me."

((r we ur "enemies"?))
Lakieth's eyes bore into the mans. His lowered head was level with the High Lord's. He listened to every word that seemed to be spat towards Lakieth's direction. He was taken aback at his comment about the dragon cloak. "Maybe I should kill you and wear your skin," Lakieth spat back. "But that is too easy of a job and I'm not here to do that." he groaned. "I feel there will be no true side in these battles. No foe is a foe and no allie is an allie." He tried to make things short and simple. Lakieth always thought the humans didn't have a complez brain like they did. But then again, he hasn't ever taken the time to meet one..

[ooc: We were fighting some rogue soldiers, and then Shenna aligned herself with the rogues, and then you turned up, so its a complicated mix of who is really the enemy here...]
Arthur's eyes narrowed to slits as he stared at the dragon. Why was he telling him that there are no sides in a battle? Why would they start saying that ally's aren't ally's and enemies aren't enemies. Of course they were, how could an enemy be an enemy if they were an ally?
"Then what are you here for beast?" Arthur asked the dragon, there was little else to say, for the two were already garnering a massive crowd of royal guard knights. It seemed the rogue army had either been annihilated or fled, for the High Lord couldn't see any other out of the corner of his eyes.
Aric, where are you!? he thought to himself...
