It was a cool day. The forest waved in the wind. Sensran climbed atop a limestone outcropping to scout out an area. His new position of Sergeant of the Guard permitted him to place fortified positions across parts of the land, with consent from higher power of course. The soldiers following him were mumbling about the forest's odd presence. Sensran's long cloak had been covered in dirt and he wished to clean it.
With a bellow, he yelled " Alright, this is where we will set up camp for the night. I need some volunteers for watch. Strange creatures inhabit these woods."
~It is possible for me to place a fortified position is it not?~

((I am not sure, though I can not see why not))
A forest colored cloak draped down from her shoulders and past the tree branch she sat on, All of her clothes were always the color of nature and worked as a camoflage. A mask covered only half of her face, showing only the nose, mouth, and chin.
Shadowmask let out a quiet yawn. When she had seen the men earlier, she had thought that they might do something interesting...but no...they were very boring as they put up some sort of fort. A sly grin came onto her face. ShadowMask could make things more interesting...
From her pocket she took out three stones that ShadowMask had found on the way here. It was by chance that she had picked them up and now she was quite glad she did. Her eyes glanced around for something that would burn...and fast. To her luck the men had a large pile of wood set out for the camp's fire during the night. That same sly grin remained on her lips as she tossed the stone and her magic lit it aflame in the air.
((I hope that works, my brain is a little dead at the moment.))

((Yeah you can. When this thread is done, I'll make a sub-board for it. Hope you guys don't mind if I join=)))
Tash raised his hand, extending it high enough for the Sergent to see.
"Sir, I'll stay for watch. I grew up in woods much like these and know some of the signs of the creatures" He stood there, keeping the look of an ernest soldier plastered on his face. Then, to his right flames shot through the air and landed in the pile of firewood that the men had spent a good part of the afternoon gathering. A shout rang out as the men closest to it jumped back, and pails of water were brought to the fire as the closest men began to throw dirt on it.
Tash scanned the forest in the direction that the flames had come from and grinned. It had only been a slight glimmer, but that was all he needed. There was only one person who could and would do such a thing like that.
His grin instantly faded and was replaced by a look of distraught worry. He turned back to the sergent. "Sir! I think that might be a wyrmling! The creature is probably still young and just learning how to use fire! They hide in the fallen leaves, if we hurry we might be able to catch it before it blows more fire!"

"Aye, get it done soldier! Get a hunting party together to find this young wyrm, I'm sure its probably just suspicious of our presence, but I don't want any mishaps..."
Sensran let out a long sigh, the cold was starting to settle in and a raincloud lingered in the air, and a herd of deer could be seen in a close by clearing. The frame to the outpost was being put together on the ground by a hand full of soldiers. He decided to prepare his tent for the night. He headed towards the carts, where the soldiers kept their gear, and noticed a shape atop a branch.
Is that is too large to be a bird? Maybe these woods have game beyond what I have seen, but that cannot be a bird.
He let out a gruff yell, " Men! There is something in the tree! Perhaps this rogue wyrmling?"

At the sound of the "oh to familiar voice, ShadowMask smiled in spite of her self. Yes, she would have to get Tashur back for this one someday. Now, no thanks to him, she had been seen and had to pull off some grand stunt to escape yet again.
"So...a rounge wyrmlying is what they want, is it?" She whispered to herself as a arrow some how slid from her sleave and in her hand. Grasping her bow she knocked the arrow, being careful to remain crouching in fear of giving away her actual species, then aimed for a clearing right below her tree. Yes, she would let them have a fierce dragon's flame if that is what they wanted... Her hand released and the arrow flew silent through the air before hitting its target. Suddenly flames burning white shot up the shaft, shinning so brightly that it would give any mans vision a need to recover. Luckily truly had the eyes of a dragon. Shadow Mask swiftly took this time to climb from the tree and hide not far off with her back to a rock. If it were trees they wanted to search then she would let them.
(Sorry if this is short, my battery is about to die))

A large and blinding flash filled the clearing, and all the men shielded their eyes. Sensran seemed to see a mass of dark colors move from the branch, and on behind it. It would be impossible to follow, considering the large rock face behind the thin tree line. It would be better to hunt this creature later the next day, because most soldiers were in the midst of unloading gear to start the camp.
"Okay men, I want five on carving wood for palisade, the rest on preparing tents, then I want a unit of men on patrol!" An express of concern seemed to be struck on Sensran's trim face.
Clanging chainmail and weapons filled the clearing scaring the deer in the nearby area. This was Sensran's first assignment, and if he failed, then what would he looked like. He was suspicious of an attack for goblins or other creatures, but he couldn't put his finger on it... By this time the wooden frame of the outpost was being propped up by support beams. Saplings were being sheared down for the palisade.
" I'm not sure, but that didn't seem like something a wyrmling would produce, does anybody have an explaination?" saying this as he stared at the charred remains of what looked like a finely crafted arrow...
