ShadowMask crossed her arms and suddenly remembered why she hated kids. 'A burn victim?!' It almost made her laugh. ShadowMask could bath in fire and come out hot to the skin but unmarked entirely. In fact it would have made her laugh if it were not for the name she had just been dubbed. 'Crispy?' The very name made her realize her dislike all over again. ShadowMask considered protesting against the name but realized it would simply be a bother. Pretty soon she would leave the town and would be traveling again. She rolled her eyes at the challenge, waiting for the kid to answer just for the fun of it. "Whats in it for me?" She added after Tashur. It was a question one should expect from a thief.
((Thats fine with me))

Shayde grins a cheshire grin. She's got them now...
"A riddle," she says merely. "If yeh win, then I'll give yeh anything I own- that includes all hundred silver on my person an' one o' my trinkets-- I've got some things yeh've probably ne'er heard about." She winks. "Bu' if you lose..." and here comes the real hook; "I get somethin' of yers."
The kid lets this sink in for a bit before she adds, "Unless yeh two don' think yerselves cunning enough t'solve a simple lad's riddle...?"

Tash shrugged. "Alright, lets have it. But to make the odds even, before you can take a possesion of ours, you have to answer a riddle that we ask. Fair enough? Or perhaps you dont like a taste of your own medicine?" Tash concidered himself a fairly smart person, and riddles came pretty natural to him, but something about the kid's smile made it seem as though he knew something that he and Shadowmask did not. What was the harm though? He had no problem in just ditching the kid if he did not know the answer. Besides, he had nothing of value on him. What was the harm, he asked himself again, fervently hoping that he would not have to cheat the kid.

As soon as the word 'riddle' came from the kids mouth ShadowMask was tempted to agree with out hesitation. She loved riddles, she even tended to speak in them to confuse people. But then came the price...apart from the coins she had stolen as doing her act everything she had on was her body was something she needed. Her sword, her bow, her boots, everything! Letting out a sigh, ShadowMask nodded. "Alright, I will try and answer your riddle." ShadowMask said, making the truth hidden in her own words....her own riddle. "I also like the sound of his way." She nodded to tashur, liking the rules he added to the challenge.

Tash smiled slightly at Shadowmask, seeing that she clearly liked riddles as much as he did. Now it was all up to the kid to start his riddle, and let them take a stab at it. He had heard a lot of riddles, so he hoped this was something new, and fresh. He loved telling others the ones hge had heard, and if this one was good, he would be more than happy to add it to his repertoie(SP?).
Both he and Shadowmask were staring at the kid now, and the suspence was getting moderate. He wanted to hear the ridle and get it done with.
OOC: Hey shadowmask, I think I figured out the riddle in your sig....

Shayde rubs her hands together. "Well'n. Speak yer riddle, bu' be prepared t'lose, my sorry friends!" As far as riddles go, she's heard every one in the book! Probably wrote the book, too, for that matter.
She mulls one over in her head to ask them as soon as she's polished off theirs. Should be no problem, right?
... Right?

ShadowMask let out a sigh. This kid was making her do that allot. "You ask first kid, then I will ask mine." She was not sure she liked how confident the kid was. 'He must have something up his sleave..' Looking at the both of them they both seemed confident in their riddling skills, not that it mattered to her.
((Sorry, that was a short one. So what is your guess at the riddle then?))

The kid tugs on her tricorner as she ponders one over, and finally blows out a breath slowly before saying in rather poetic verse:
"I am bound with leather and leaves, I can anger and I can please. If you aspire to throw me to fire forevermore you shall silence me."
That said she kicks back flat on her back and pulls the hat down over her forehead, a smug little look on her face. Let 'em solve -that- one! But even in her complacency, she doesn't realize she's beginning to get thingyy, and her antlers are slo-o-owly beginning to poke out of her head, the tricorner lifting a bit around the edges... it looks, for now, as if two sticks have suddenly begun to prop her hat up from the inside.

Tash listened carefully to the riddle, his mind repeating the verses over and over... Bound in leather and leaves.... anger, please......hmmmm...... His thought process did not bring many things to mind, and the smug look on the kid's face did not help his confidence.
Finally, after a few minutes of silence, did one word that he had not thought of in a long time popped into his head. He was not much of a reader, but he did now that books were made of trees, and covered with leather. He decisided to take a stab at it. "Is is a book?" He said, tentativly. As he looked at the kid, he noticed how odd the hat was. He had never rally noticed it before, but why would a kid wear a hat like that? And why would he stuff sticks in it? He pondered over this, while he waited for an answer about his reply. He would ask about the hat later...
OOC: Is it advice?

The kid flicks an eye open, a little bit taken aback. "Yeh gotteh be more specific'n that," she says, trying to keep her tone lazy and a little bit nonchalant still. She doesn't want to admit that Tash is dangerously close to guessing-- and here she went easy on them from her personal arsenal. Damn!

"More specific huh?" She was not really asking...simply talking more to herself as ShadowMask tried to think of something that would be "more specific". Tashur was allot of a better riddler then ShadowMask would have thought...and the kid was high among the fair riddles as well. Her eyes glanced over the hat but dismissed it. After all, she wore a mask each and every day. So who was she to comment on the strange? ShadowMask bit her lip, stuck for the moment. Not that it mattered, she knew a fellow who took an entire day to weed out the answer of a riddle. With a sigh she decided to let Tashur go again, feeling very disappointed in her own talents.
((AHHH That was my guess!! Anyways...YEAY FOR THE FIRST PERSON TO GET THE RIDDLE RIGHT!! All my friends...and some randoms...could not figger it out.))

Tash though deeply. He did not have a great deal of knowlage when it came to books. In fact, the only book he had ever really seen was the ledger that a merchank kept his wares recorded in. Other than that- no, there was also the time that he had stolen from a woman when he was little, he had taken her jewel chest. When he had opened it later, he found a bound book that she had written in. A diary.... Wait! That was it!
"Its a diary." He said, plain and simple. A slight gleam of triumph shone in his eyes, but he did not really gloaty. It was not worth it. After all, it was only a kid....

Shay gives a little twitch of one eye when she hears the correct answer-- bah! No! But... how?! Slo-o-owly she turns to face Tashur, eyes narrowing.
"'Ow th'ell'd yeh know tha'?-- yeh're kiddin' me!" she says with a little lamentable grimace. But then again, a promise is a promise. "I stick by my word, yeh know," she grumbles, having hoped to lift something nifty off two such older (and stranger looking) people. But grudgingly she removes the satchel from her back, about a foot long and very thin. It doesn't look like it could hold much at all.
"Smartsatchel, activate," she says growlishly, annoyed. And the thing begins to widen considerably-- about two feet accross at the opening now. She reaches into the murky, inky black contents of the satchel and pulls out several things: a small brown coinpurse that seems to have something wriggling inside of it, and an ornate silver sword crested with a dragon accross the pommel and ruby-red eyes. There's a small blue orb that looks a bit like a snowglobe but lacking in anything inside--and last (but certainly not least) a pair of scruffy, normal-appearing boots, without a single look of magic about them. Yet something's not quite right with them.
"Loik I sai', I ain' got any money," she says. "Bu' take yer pick o' whatever I got. Th'deal was fer one thing o' mine-- lady, if you wan' somethin', you gotta make a second riddle-deal! So hrrmf!

A sigh escaped from elf lips. Even though she would never EVER want to admit it, ShadowMask was true to her word...not that she wanted them to know that. Her shoulders shrugged. "I've got boots, I have a sword...and what ever that is it would probably only add to the weight on my back traveling and have no use, so I have no need for your things kid." In truth she would have gladly taken any of those things and sold them for as much coin as possible, but she, in truth, did not answer the question nor no the answer. So she would not take the prise of a gift not deserved. "Good riddle kid," She added, "I'll be sure to remember that one."
